Menu Bar App: Perfect Place for the Calendar!

This is nice, practical menu bar app to make the calendar readily accessible. Nothing complex, but how often have I wanted to check the calendar just to see where a particular date falls. And now, its just a click away. Thanks

Simple and elegant

Only issue I had was that it took me a while to discover that to disclose a day, you have to click on the lower portion of the day (where the dots appear). At first I thought it was broken and working intermittently but then realized the whole day is not clickable.

Great app!

Great app giving a great and simple way to check calendar. It would be better to show what date is today.

So Close!

I love this application and wish I could give 4 and 1/2 stars. The only thing I would add is custom colors and a way to hide the "popCalendar" text. love this app!

Very pretty and useful little app

I’m writing this review because of the invitation the app just gave me in a pop up (and I quote): "You use popCalendar since more days. Do you want write a review of this application?” Yes I do, popCalendar. Yes I do.

Should be part of the OS

This is so usefull it will likely get Sherlocked.

popCalendar

Since I installed this app I use it daily. Very nice look. Does everything well. Negates the need for me to keep iCal running all day. Plus I non longer need to use widgets. Support is great, I asked the developer about a possible feature add. He responded in 10 minutes! I am very happy with this app.

Well worth the two bucks

This is app provides a great convenience that should be part of OS X. I know there’s a preferenece setting to add the date to the display of the OS X Date and Time feature, but doing so takes up too much menu bar space. This app shows me the current date in its icon for reference at a glance, without eating up menu bar real estate and without having to click to see it. popCalendar integrates with the OS X Calendar app, which lets it highlight days with appointments or events set. Click any day in popCalendar, and a list of that day’s events slides open. If you have multiple e-mail and calendar accounts, there is a preference setting that lets you select which accounts to show events for. My complaints are small quibbles that prevent a full five-star rating. I wish the App Store would let me set a four and a half star rating intead of only four. 1. The first one takes a bit of explaining. When clicked, popCalendar shows the last month you were viewing the last time you clicked it, even weeks later. This is well and good, and as it should be, because it provides repeated quick access to the same past or future month. If you were writing a report about a future event, for example, popCalendar would give you repeated quick access to the calendar for that event’s month. The OS X Calendar app has the same behavior (without quick menu bar access), but it also provides a Today button to restore the current month when the report is done. popCalendar needs a small Today button as well. 2. Some of the text displayed by popCalendar betrays the author’s imperfect English skills. For example, the dialog that reminds users to provide feedback reads “You use popCalendar since more days. Do you want write a review of this application?” This is not charming, it is embarrassing. The author needs to invest in the services of a native English speaking tech writer consultant.

Great alwatys available light calendar

My life is too simple for the full calendar app, but this one is perfect for checking dates and adding reminders.

Great app and customer service

Thanks for the great app! It’s a minimal and very functional menu bar calendar. I’d definately pay for it and encourage more features as a paid app. I submitted a question to the developer and got a speedy response. Thank you Michael!

Simple and effective

Updated: (1.6.6) Wonderful app. It took 9 days for all of my concerns to be addressed. No complaints now, this is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! A nice update for the future might be an optional condensed/smaller size. Pros: very clean, fast, minimal, unobtrusive syncs with whatever accounts are on your apple calendar Cons: (version 1.6.5) Now fixed! icon is not optimized for yosemite dark theme cannot add alerts when creating event the week numbers throw off alignment of the day titles in month view Will update to 4-5 stars if I see improvement.

Simple calendar for keeping track of dates

This app is a fine alternative to a program I used in OS X 10.4-10.6 called BD Calendar, which is no longer being developed. It allows me to see a year’s worth of dates at a glance as well as holidays and events that I can put in Apple’s Calendar program. My only suggestion is for the app to give users the option of showing only six or three months at a time taking up the same amount of space as the twelve month view since it would be a little easier on my eyes (the 12-month view is a little small).

Fast and works

No faster way to look at a calendar on your Mac!

Beautiful, Simple Operation

I like this app a lot - it is lightweight, takes up only a small slot on my menu bar, but upon one click I can see the entire year at once. Add to that the functionality with iCal and the ability to add appointments and other events to Home, Work, and other calendars, and this is what I consider an essential addition to your app suite. Highly recommended.

Finally, a Mac OSX void has been filled

This clean, little app should be part of OSX. I am used to clicking the time on MS Windows and having the calendar pop up. Now I have the same feature on the Mac. The developer is very responsive to suggestions for improvemens.

I love this app!

Works great and love the date icon in the status bar!

Very convenient

My calendars are right where I can get to them easily - on the top menu bar. The icon immediately tells me what day it is. Clicking on it, I can get to any date and see what’s happening on that date.

Used To Be Excellent; Now, Not a Bit

I have used PopCalendar for quite a while. It was a fabulous app for me. I have some short-term memory problems so I needed an app that would open when I started my computer and remind me of all manner of things. A few months ago, it stopped automatically opening when I turn on my computer. Nothing I did worked to fix that, so I contacted Support. The “support” person informed me that he didn’t actually do support for this app, that the coder had disappeared and there was no way to help me. If I had reviewed this before that call, it would have been 5 stars. Now it’s worthless and I am giving it one.

Very useful!

This is a great little menu bar addition. Functional, clean and stays out of your way until you need it. Highly recommended.

Nice but missing some features

This is a very nice calendar for my Mac menu bar. It’s easy to use and clear to read. If you just need a basic calendar app, then this is the one you should get. However, it’s not going to replace the app I currently use, Itsycal. I think popCalendar would benefit from the option to shrink the font size. A smaller font size would allow more room to see the day’s activities without having to click once to open the calendar and click again to show the details of the day. A dark theme would be nice, too.
